Onity S.L.U. has installed its next-generation access management system throughout the Hard Rock Hotel in Ibiza, Spain, the group’s first hotel in Europe. The Onity locks installed at the Hard Rock use contactless radio-frequency identification (RFID) technology to make it easier for guests to get in and out of their rooms and other facilities at the state-of-the-art hotel, which opened this year. Onity is a part of UTC Building & Industrial Systems, a unit of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX).
“The next-generation Onity locking solution fits perfectly with the hotel’s aspiration to harness the latest technologies to enable a fantastic experience for each of our guests,” said Iván B. Tarilonte, director, Hard Rock Hotel Ibiza. “The opportunity to provide opening devices in novel formats such as key chains, bracelets and stickers — as opposed to just traditional keys — adds to the hotel’s image as a modern and trendy holiday resort.”
Onity electronic locks and wall readers manage access to the nearly 500 guest rooms at the hotel, including 235 suites and private bungalows, and its facilities, such as the Rock Spa® and the Body Rock® training area. The system works with keycards and innovative, non-traditional keys in multiple, nonproprietary formats.
“We are proud to add the Hard Rock Hotel to the list of more than 30 Ibiza hotels already equipped with Onity products,” said Borja Ibarrondo, managing director, Onity and Supra, Europe, Middle East and Africa. “Working with this iconic brand pushes us to continue to develop innovative solutions that enable our customers to set themselves apart from their competitors.”
Onity was the first e-lock company with production in Spain to recently achieve the EN 14846 accreditation, a newly compulsory European accreditation that not only recognizes product strength, security and functionality, but also considers material sourcing, accuracy of technical documentation, shipping procedures, and other items. The ADVANCE™by Onity® RFID Euro lock range installed at the Hard Rock Hotel Ibiza complies with this accreditation.
